The summer is well and truly over. The days are getting shorter and there is a nip in the air during the evening that means that those nights when we can enjoy dining outside are numbered.

However, for some, autumn is the most charming time of year and can certainly be in the running for the most beautiful season. The red leaves on the trees, the golden glow of the brush and those sunsets that turn the world the pink and purple, this might just be Saint Tropez at its best.

There's a lot going on in this French Riviera town in October, these are just some of the best events taking place in Saint Tropez this month.

Voiles de Saint Tropez

The first week of October sees the town abustle with yachts, sailboats and motor yachts as the week-long Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez comes to the port. One of the sailing world's favourite events, you will find racing and sailing enthusiasts from around the globe racing and partying in the historic port town of Saint Tropez.

Roc d'Azur

Things remain sporty with the Roc d'Azur mountain biking event which brings together all things two-wheeled in the spirit of celebrating the sport of mountain biking in Frejus. With over 20,000 participants, 300 exhibitors and an expected 150,000 visitors over the five days, this is a sporting event to suit everyone.

For those who prefer four wheels to two, the Paradis Porsche should keep you happy. An exhibition and parade of the iconic cars in the streets of Saint Tropez. From the original design to the modern Porsche, this is an opportunity to see all the models of this German manufacturer. This event takes place on October 13th and 14th 2018.

Dragon Yacht Regatta

As the wind continues to build on the southern coast of France, the yachting season is in full swing. The Dragon Yacht Regatta takes place from October 18th to 20th in the Bay of Saint Tropez. Since 2004, when the 75th anniversary of the "Dragon" boat class gathered more than 250 yachts together, Saint-Tropez has become a must meeting place for Dragon enthusiasts in October.

International Air Festival, Frejus

International Air Festival

The wind takes centre stage again on October 27th and 28th with the International Air Festival in Frejus. This is the third largest kite festival in France and includes single line kits and stunts kits as well as other aerial treats. The village area will include workshops and some especially for kids where they can learn to build and decorate kites.

Saint Tropez Classic

Now that the days are slightly cooler, it's the perfect time of year for a running event. The Saint Tropez Classic is an annual race that sees around 1,500 people running around the stunning town and coastal area of Saint Tropez. You can register for either the 8km run or a 16km run. Both start at the Port in St Tropez and end at the Places des Lices in the heart of town. Very much a family event, kids can take part too in the children's races.

The month ends with some fantastic shopping as the much anticipated Grande Braderie de Saint Tropez brings the sale signs and reduced price tags to the boutiques and shops of Saint Tropez. This is your time to snap up some bargains and get yourself kitted out in the St Tropez look.
