tower and sea around st tropez

#Architecture

The historic towers of Saint Tropez have an idyllic setting right on the coast. Due to numerous attacks St Tropez became well-fortified early on in its history. Originally, four towers were built to protect the coast and the port: the Tour du Portalet, the Tour la Vieille, the Tour de Suffren, now lost, and the Tour Jarlier. The most central one, is to be found on Rue Jarlier. This structure, built a little later than the others, dates from the 16th century and sits upon a street which is of considerable architectural interest.

You can't leave France and Saint Tropez without a picture of a chateau and Le Chateau de la Motte offers the perfect photo opportunity. Set in lush green parkland, this castle represents an incredible element of Saint Tropez's natural heritage. Built in 1856 by the Martin de Roquebrune family, listed as one of the most important families of the nobility, the chateau is typical of the grand stately home style that was popular at the time.

Some of the most dramatic coastal scenery can be found along from Saint Raphael. Les Calanques de l'Esterel offer an interesting contrast between the red rock sea cliff, the green shrubbery above and the turquoise nad azure blues of the Mediterranean sea. Almost unnatural looking, you will definitely be tagging this one #NoFilter.

Another astounding colour contrast can be seen on the three Iles d'Or; Ile de Porquerolles is the largest and most visited. With the water colour being a bright turquoise blue against the white sand you could easily be forgiven for thinking that you are in the Caribbean.
