NBA star celebrates 60th birthday surrounded by VIPs
Magic Johnson and his wife Cookie pulled out all the stops to celebrate their 60th birthday in Saint-Tropez. Taking advantage of the US Labor Weekend holidays, many American music, sport and film stars jetted over to the Cote d'Azur to party with them.
Nikki Beach, the glamorous beach club on Pampelonne Beach, was the chosen venue for this once-in-a-lifetime bash. A whole host of celebrities attended the celebrations, many of them arriving on the Johnsons' awe-inspiring rented yacht, the Aquila, an 85.6m award-winning motorboat with gym, jacuzzi, spa and tonnes of water toys.
Dancing to hip-hop around Nikki Beach's pool were Jennifer López and Alex Rodríguez, Hollywood stars Angela Bassett, Samuel L. Jackson and Anthony Anderson, iconic filmmaker Spike Lee or comedian Chris Tucker. Many of Magic's legendary NBA colleagues were also in attendance such as Byron Scott and Pat Riley. Other famous guests included Cedric the Entertainer and Tina Lawson, Beyoncé's mother.
Many of them reported their glamorous South of France holidays on Instagram posts full of private jet flights, luxury hotels like the five-star Byblos and the Chateau de la Messardiere, and visits to local restaurants and nightclubs such as the popular L'Opera.
