The annual Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation Gala was hosted last night at the Domaine Bertaud Belieu in Gassin, near Saint Tropez.

Established in 1998, the Leonardo Dicaprio Foundation is a charitable organisation dedicated to raising environmental awareness. It focuses mainly on global warming, conserving the Earth's biodiversity and promoting renewable energy and it has worked on projects in over 40 countries. Last year’s gala raise over $40 Million to help the Foundation.

This year however, in light of the recent tragic events in Nice Leo has pledged to give a significant donation to 'Give for France', an organisation dedicated to the families of victims and Nice attack survivors. With some 900 guests in attendance, including some of Hollywood's A-Listers, billionaires and models, the Oscar-winning actor asked them to help the cause and make additional donations.

A Twitter post on Friday 15th July from DiCarprio reads "My heart goes out to the victims and families of Nice. We stand with everyone in France in liberté, égalité, fraternité."

Guests at the Gala event included Marion Cotillard, Penelope Cruz, Kate Hudson, Charlize Theron, Edward Norton and Robert De Niro, amongst others.
