A sad start to 2016 as two legends of acting and theatre passed away early in January. Both actors, Yves Vincent and Michel Galabru had starred in several of the infamous 'Gendarmes de Saint-Tropez' films.

News of their passing comes only weeks after the death of French creator and director of the cult films, Richard Balducci. Both actors had starred aside Louis de Funes in the films 'Le Gendarme se Marie' (1968) and 'Le Gendarme en Balade' (1970).

Born August 5, 1921, Yves Vincent started his career in theatre and cinema in the 1940s before playing alongside screen idols such as Brigitte Bardot and Ingrid Bergman. Vincent died on 6th January, aged 94. He was well known for his role as the magnanimous Colonel in Les Gendarmes de Saint-Tropez. Fellow actor Michel Galabru died only a few days before, on 4th January at a hospital in the Paris region. He was 93 years old.

The below video shows Vincent as he addresses the Gendarmes, with Michel Galabru seated next to fellow Gendarme, Louis de Funes.
