'La Fête Nationale' is celebrated annually in France on the 14th July. Everyone has the day off work and fireworks will light up the skies in every city, town and village across the land.

Commemorating the Storming of the Bastille on 14 July 1789, during the French Revolution, as well as the Fête de la Fédération which celebrated the unity of the French people on 14 July 1790. This important date in history happens to arrive just at the beginning of the school holiday season, meaning that you are quite likely to be able to enjoy one of France's largest and most popular celebrations during your holiday here in Saint Tropez.

If you want to fully immerse yourself in the festivities then there will be a patriotic ceremony taking place at 10.30 on the morning Friday 14th July in front of the memorial (Jean Despas Hall - gardens). The programme for the evening is perfect for kids and adults alike - at 21:30 you are welcome at the Place de l'Hôtel de Ville (town hall) where children will be given paper lanterns. The parade then begins at 22:00 when you will carry the lanterns through the streets of Saint Tropez to the beat of traditional music and followed by a glass to toast the celebrations. Festivities will begin on the banks of the old harbour (Môle Jean Réveille) at 22:30, before the fireworks start at 22:45.

If you are in or near Saint Tropez on the 14th July 2017 then make sure you don't miss this opportunity to enjoy France's largest and most popular national holiday here in the port town of Saint Tropez.
