Over 60 firefighters were involved in fighting the blaze that has destroyed 80 bungalows and the beach restaurants.

The fire was fanned by strong winds early yesterday morning, making it difficult for firefighters to work. The fire ravaged the luxury camp site, but luckily there were no casualties. Although the site was open, it was not at full occupancy due to it being low season.

The fire was brought under control by lunch time but the smoke could be see for miles across the Saint Tropez bay. The Pompiers du Var, SDis83 posted pictures on their Facebook page yesterday morning that showed the damage caused by the fire and the efforts made by the firefighters.
