Accessibility is a priority for the French Government and the accessibility agenda aims to ensure the application of the accessibility obligation set out under the law.
With this comprehensive, balanced and simple measure, it is establishing the basis for implementing the law of 11 February 2005 and supporting the autonomy not only of "disabled" people, but also of elderly people and anyone with a disability.
The city council of Saint Tropez has now committed to upgrading public buildings to enable disabled access and has set a deadline of 2024 for the completion of works. In Saint Tropez, 62 buildings will be affected by this process, most of which have already been built and will now need to be modified. But some will be exempt under the preservation of architectural heritage or where it is a technical impossibility.
The investment is substantial and amounts to a total of 3,649,961 euros, or just over 300,000 euros a year, says Mayor Jean-Pierre Tuveri.
