Today, 21 Cistercian monks live on the island continuing the monastic tradition and live modestly whilst undertaking the production of wine and spirits.
The fabulous adventure of the Ferme des Lices is the result of Laurence Berlemont's spirit of initiative combined with the owners' wish to keep their vines alive.
Their two estates lie about two miles apart but all their wines are made in Fontlade. Thus, the Côtes de Provence comes from a plot which stands at the westernmost border of the appellation.
Covering an area of 65 hectares, around 80% of this vineyards production is rosé wine, although the Estate is also known for the quality of its red and white wines. The Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) is Cotes de Provence.

Their goal has consistently been to produce a high quality red wine based on a Syrah-Cabernet Sauvignon blend that makes it comparable to a cross between a Bordeaux and a Rhône style wine. There is also a full bodied rosé wine and one white.
