As with much of Provence, the Saint Tropez area is known for its rose

Saint Tropez's peninsula is perfect grape growing land; warmed by the sun and cooled by the four winds, grapes grow generously to to offers a selection of white, red and rosé wines.

The autumn market season in the St Tropez area truly launches at the end of September with the Fête du Vin Cuit which fills the streets of Le Plan de la Tour, north of Port Grimaud. Visitors to this wonderful festival are offered the chance to sample an authentic grape pressing experience and to enjoy the fruits of their labour with a wine tasting. As with most local festivals, there were traditional dancers in the local red and white gowns of Le Plan de la Tour who performed to live music. A perfect companion to the Provençal wine.

There a cluster of well known vineyards around the Gassin and Ramatuelle areas, producing red, white and rose wines, but the rose is particularly coveted in the region. Possibly due to the wonderful climate that allows you to enjoy a glass of chilled rose on a warm day!

The main grape varieties grown include, grenache, cinsault, syrah, cabernet, carignan, clairette, vermentino and semillon.
