The funeral is being held today to celebrate the life of local St Tropez resident Jean de Colmont, founder of Club 55 and the Caves du Roy.

He was just ten years old when his father authorized the shooting of a film on the small beach which he had bought in Ramatuelle. This was in 1955 and the film was non other than 'And God Created Woman' with Brigitte Bardot.

Later it would become the venue for the infamous Club 55 which he owned and ran with brother Patrice for 35 years. Crowned 'the prince of Tropeziennes nights' Jean died last week after suffering a heart attack, he will be a much missed face in St Tropez.

The funeral took place early this morning in the Church of Saint-Tropez.
