Christina O Superyacht - 99m Yacht Charter for up to 157 people

Superyacht in Saint-Tropez for up to one hundred and fifty seven people (sleeps thirty four)

Christina O is arguably the most famous superyacht charters in the world, and for good reason.

History

The vessel originally began life as HMCS Stormont, a frigate in the Canadian Navy. She saw action during the Normandy Landings in the Second World War.

After the war, a surplus of naval ships became available. Greek shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis purchased Stormont at scrap value. He completely rebuilt and transformed her, renaming the yacht Christina after his daughter.

Transformation into a superyacht

Onassis’ redesign set new standards in luxury yachting. One of the most iconic features introduced was the mosaic swimming pool, which can be raised to become a dance floor at the push of a button.

Under his ownership, Christina quickly became one of the most famous yachts in the world.

Famous guests and events

During nearly two decades with Onassis, the yacht welcomed an extraordinary list of high-profile guests.

It was on board that Winston Churchill first met John F. Kennedy in 1957. The yacht also hosted the wedding celebrations of Grace Kelly and Prince Rainier III, as well as gatherings linked to Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

Other notable guests included Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, John D. Rockefeller and Richard Burton.

Decline and restoration

Following the death of his son, Onassis donated the yacht to the Greek government. Renamed Argo, she was used as a presidential yacht but eventually fell into disrepair.

In nineteen ninety-eight, John Paul Papanicolao purchased the vessel and undertook an extensive restoration, investing around fifty million dollars. He renamed her Christina O, carefully preserving many original features, including the pool, piano, and iconic bars.

Accommodation and capacity

Today, Christina O remains one of the most unique yachts available for charter. She can cruise with up to one hundred and fifty-seven guests and accommodate thirty-four guests overnight across fourteen cabins.

This exceptional capacity makes her ideal for large celebrations, corporate events, and special occasions.

On-board experience

Life on board is defined by both luxury and service. A team of chefs ensures exceptional dining throughout your stay, while spa facilities include massage rooms and a beauty area, with therapists available to guests.

For those seeking activity, the yacht features an approved RYA water sports centre, complete with a wide range of equipment and a dedicated instructor.

Iconic features

Christina O is home to several remarkable spaces, including Ari’s Bar, one of the most famous bars in the world. Its unique bar stools, famously associated with Onassis’ sense of humour, remain a talking point to this day.

The main dining room can host up to forty-two guests and features a Steinway & Sons piano, one of three on board. Throughout the yacht, original details and memorabilia from the Onassis era have been carefully preserved.

A truly unique charter

Chartering Christina O is more than a luxury escape. It’s an opportunity to step into history.

From dining where Kennedy once dined to enjoying the same spaces as Churchill, Sinatra, and Monaco royalty, every corner of the yacht tells a story. Combined with her exceptional facilities and service, Christina O offers a truly unforgettable experience at sea.
