There are few experiences more Cote d’Azur than spending a summer’s day lying on a deckchair in a Saint-Tropez beach club, while handsome waiters bring you things- an icy cold magnum of rose, a plate of antipasto, a fresh fluffy towel so huge it could double as a bed sheet.
There’s a string of private beaches and restaurants along this beautiful stretch of wide sandy beach, but our lunchtime favourite is Prao Plage as they have a tender so we can arrive by boat; we just moor up in the gorgeous turquoise waters opposite, and Adile nips out to collect us - it’s only a matter of a very short sail from St Tropez, Ste Maxime, Port Grimaud or Les Issambres.
With the Easter holidays falling on the weekend of Friday 14th of April and temperatures in Saint Tropez already consistently hitting the mid-twenties, it offers a great chance to hop on down to the beach and grab some early season sunshine.
Pampelonne is a great beach to visit for the restaurants and the water-sport activities, but nothing compares to the clear waters and white sands of L’Escalet beach, which is less than a five-minute drive from Pampelonne.
