Since it's inauguration in June of this year, the Museum of the Gendarmerie and Cinema of Saint Tropez has seen some 78,000 visitors through its door.

Louis de Funes will no doubt welcome more visitors before the year is out as his life-size sculpture waits at the entrance of the museum. Over the three floors, the actor is ever present, through film clips and interviews, and even the famous office where his character sat in some of the most iconic French films ever made.

"We reconstructed the same barracks of the gendarmes in the series," says Gwen Van Butsele, Curator "series that was filmed in real barracks of the gendarmes of Saint Tropez."

The forecast figure of 100,000 visitors a year should be easily attained by the end of the year, proving the museum to be a popular success, and a must-see activity when you are in Saint-Tropez.
